Das Folk-Duo Stables wurde im Januar 2016 von Matthew Lowe und Daniel Trenholme in London gegründet. Matthew arbeitete zu dieser Zeit an einer neuen Projektidee und nachdem er ihre erste Single "Steam" gespielt hatte, wurde das Duo um fünf Uhr morgens geboren und vier Monate später an die Öffentlichkeit gebracht.
Ihr Debütalbum "Beyond Brushes" wurde nur neun Monate später veröffentlicht. Nur einen Monat nach der Veröffentlichung starteten Matthew und Daniel ihre erste britische Headlinertour, gefolgt von einer kleinen französischen Tour. Stables legen beim Live-Spielen Wert auf "Energie" und erzeugen den Sound einer kompletten Band mit großen Harmonien und abwechslungsreichen Stilen. Matthew sagt; "Ich wollte immer einen einfachen Sound kreieren, der bei Bedarf vom kleinen Folk Club bis zur großen Festivalbühne weitergeführt werden kann." Stables sind weiter durch Großbritannien getourt und traten bei großen Festivals wie dem Glastonbury Festival auf und waren im Herbst 2017 bereits auf Europatour
Das zweite Album von Stable, "Reverie", wurde 2018 veröffentlicht und soll ihr Debüt übertreffen. "Wir sind unglaublich stolz auf diese Platte und können es kaum erwarten, dass die Leute es hören. Dies ist das Album, das wir immer veröffentlichen wollten, als wir uns Stables zum ersten Mal vorgestellt haben. Wir lieben unser Debüt, aber das fühlt sich an wie der Sound, den wir immer produzieren wollten."
Nach dem Erfolg ihres Debutalbums "Reverie" haben sie nun die erste von 12 Singles - Ringmore Rise - veröffentlicht, auf die jeden monat eine weitere Single folgen soll.
Matthew sagt:" Wir haben eine Woche damit verbracht herauszufinden, ob wir als Vollzeitmusiker weitermachen können wenn die CD-Verkäufe allgemein zurückgehen und der Brexit unser europäisches Tourleben eventuell um Einiges komplizierter macht. Ich ging nach haus und schrieb Ringmore Rise nachdem wir uns vergewissert hatten, dass Stables einfach zu wichtig für uns war. Der Song ist ein Statement, viele Jahre weitermachen zu wollen."

Stables - The indie-folk duo formed by Matthew Lowe (Keston Cobblers Club) and Daniel Trenholme.
Stables was formed in January 2016 during late night drinks between Matthew and Daniel in London. Matthew was working on a new project idea at the time and, after playing through what was to become their first single, 'Steam', at 5 am, the duo was born, and quickly went public four months later.
'Beyond Brushes' (their debut album) was released to critical acclaim just nine months after, in August 2016, and was championed by the likes of BBC's Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson and BBC6 Recommends amongst others, soon establishing them firmly on the circuit, with a growing fan base.
Just a month after the release Matthew and Daniel embarked on their first UK headline tour, followed by a small French headline. Stables put emphasis on 'energy' when playing live; switching instruments and producing the sound of a full band, with big harmonies and varied styles. Matthew says; 'I always wanted to create a simple sound that could then be taken further when needed, from a small folk club, to a large festival stage'. Stables have gone on to tour the UK further, performing at major festivals including Glastonbury Festival and five European, headline tours just over a year.
Stables' second album, 'Reverie', was released at the end of February 2018, surpassing their debut. 'We're incredibly proud of this record and can't wait for people to hear it'. Matthew calls it an 'almost break up album' that he wrote whilst in a 'period of relationship unrest, which resolved during the process'. 'This is the album we always wanted to release when we first imagined Stables. We love our debut, but this feels like the sound we always set out to produce'.
After the success of their debut album, 'Reverie', Stables have now released the first single in a series of 12: 'Ringmore Rise'.
Ringmore Rise and the plan to release a single every month for the next year was the result of a meeting between Matthew and Daniel in June, where the duo discussed their future in the industry.
Matthew says ‘we spent the week working out if we could continue full time as musicians, with the decline of CDs, Brexit possibly making our European touring a lot harder and personal factors. I went away and wrote Ringmore Rise after we decided that Stables was too important to us. It’s a statement to continue for many years to come’.
