Hills of Belgium ist ein Old-Time-Musik-Duo. Zwei Stimmen, eine Geige und ein Banjo lassen Lieder und Melodien wiederaufleben, die ihren Ursprung in der amerikanischen Tradition haben. Mit seinem rohen und schnörkellosen Stil versetzt das Duo Sie direkt in die Appalachen des frühen letzten Jahrhunderts.
Nach der Veröffentlichung von zwei EPs, zahlreichen Konzerten in Belgien und Europa (Großbritannien, Italien, Frankreich, Niederlande...) und einer Initiationsreise zu den Festivals der Appalachen, wo die Old-Time-Musik geboren wurde und noch immer floriert, wird das Duo im Herbst 2024 neue Abenteuer beginnen: ein erstes Album mit einer neuen Besetzung.
Mit diesem ersten Werk möchten Jérémie Fraboni und Lorcan Fahy – Musiker und Entdecker – Ihnen neue und alte Schätze vorstellen, die sie durch ihre Recherchen, Reisen und
Begegnungen Während sich das Duo nach wie vor von den ältesten Quellen inspirieren lässt (Uncle Dave Macon, Roscoe Holcomb, Burnett und Rutherford...), lassen sie sich auch von aktuellen und innovativen Kreationen inspirieren, die diese Musik auch heute noch lebendig halten (Sam Amidon, Rhiannon Gidddens, Joseph Decosimo...).
In diesem Debütalbum vereinen Lorcan und Jeremie diese Einflüsse, um neue Wege zu beschreiten. Mit mehreren neuen Kompositionen und der Unterstützung von Gastmusikern – einer Bläsersektion (Pauline Leblond und Alice Riberolles) und einem Schlagzeuger (Antoine Rotthier) – lässt das Duo „Old-time & Brass” mit belgischem Touch entstehen, bleibt dabei aber der reinsten Tradition der Appalachen treu.

Hills of Belgium is an old-time music duo. Two voices, a violin and a banjo revisiting songs and melodies at the roots of American tradition. Raw and unadorned, the duo plunges you directly into the Appalachians of the early last century. After the release of two EPs, numerous concerts in Belgium and Europe (UK, Italy, France, Netherlands...), and an initiatory journey to the festivals of the Appalachians where old-time music was born and still thrives, the duo will embark on new adventures in the fall of 2024: a first album with a new line-up.
Through this first opus, Jérémie Fraboni and Lorcan Fahy - musician-explorers - are eager to introduce you to new and old gems they have unearthed through their research, travels, and
encounters. While the duo still draws inspiration from the oldest sources (Uncle Dave Macon, Roscoe Holcomb, Burnett and Rutherford...), they are also inspired by current and innovative creations that keep this music very much alive today (Sam Amidon, Rhiannon Gidddens, Joseph Decosimo...).
In this debut album, Lorcan and Jeremie assemble these influences to venture into new directions. With several new compositions and the addition of guests -a brass section (Pauline Leblond and Alice Riberolles) and drums (Antoine Rotthier)- the duo gives birth to 'Old-time & Brass' with a Belgian twist while staying true to the purest Appalachian tradition.
