Ocean vs. Daughter (UK/CZ/USA)

Ocean Versus Daughter was formed in Prague by Virginian Flanna Sheridan in 2009. If piano-driven indie is a genre, this is it. The European formation has included several Brits, Americans and Czechs on cello, synth, drums, violin and guitar. When playing in the US, Flanna often plays solo or is joined by a variety of gifted musicians.

Ocean Versus Daughter have played extensively in Prague and Germany. In 2012, the music has been re-imported to the US where audiences have been receptive and enthusiastic as well. The band is currently practicing under a new formation in preparation for a two month summer 2012 tour.

Their debut album “Slightly Parted” has been praised for its the heavy strings and synth which give the album a wide sonic spectrum. It is in rotation on over 120 college radio stations in the US. While songs from “Slightly Parted” have an audible mournful aspect, the next album’s songs are decidedly punchier. Ocean Versus Daughter plan to release their sophomore album early 2013.
